David worked hard his entire life. Brought up in the family plumbing business of JJ Loftus Plumbing of Winchester MA, Est 1932; he began working at the family business at the age of 15. David studied and got his journeyman degree and license before joining Local 12 in 1969, where he was sponsored by Paul Harrington.
Previous to the Union he worked not only at the family plumbing business but also the B & M Railroads and served 6 years in the Navy CB's from August 19, 1957 to October 16, 1962.
Between 1975 and 1980, construction was almost to a stop in Boston, and because he was faced with continuous layoffs and unemployment, he was driven to provide for his family and took a job in Portsmouth NH at the Navy Yard for a year and half before being called back to Boston Commercial Properties and Hospitals.
He was a very dedicated man who knew how to provide for his family.
After retiring, David continued working locally as a realtor for Collins Management Real Estate of Winchester and also for his nephew Jeffrey Loftus of JJ Loftus Plumbing Co.
On August 17, 1963, David was wed to Donna Marie (Dearmond) Loftus of Woburn. with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. They raised a family together in Woburn.
