Angel L. Ramos, age 67, of longtime resident of Melrose, passed away July 2, 2021, at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital following a brief illness. He was the cherished husband of 42 years to Jeanette (Vargas) Ramos.
Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico; he was the son of the late Celestino and Lydia (Nazario) Ramos. As an infant, Angel came to the States with his family and was raised and educated in the Bronx, New York.
Angel was a carpenter and specialized in the restoration of fine furniture.
Residents of Melrose for nearly 33 years, Angel and his faithful companion Jeanette were most often seen walking the perimeter of El Pond in Melrose or kayaking on Spot Pond, Stoneham. Angel was passionate about cycling and loved to watch wrestling matches on TV and chat about them with his nephew in NY. Not only was woodworking his livelihood, it was a hobby; he enjoyed making birdhouses and furniture for their home. Angel and Jeanette enjoyed annual cruises aboard the windjammers.
Everyone loved Angel, as he was always optimistic, had a great sense of humor, never complained, a friend to whom you could lean on and have fun with.
He was the brother of Ramona Olivera of Carolina, PR, Tino Ramos of Queens, NY and Carmen Ramos of Bronx, NY. Angel is survived by many caring nieces, nephews , sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Wednesday, July 7th, 2-5 P.M. at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham.
