William Joseph Peterson

October 8, 1943 — October 25, 2016

William Joseph Peterson of Stoneham, formerly of Cambridge passed away Monday, October 25, 2016, at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital, after brief illnesses. He was the cherished husband of Christine (Poplawska) Peterson. Born in Boston, MA and raised in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Harold P. and Agnes (Sampson) Peterson.
Mr. Peterson was employed for many years as a carpenter for various hotel chains on the North Shore.
After having lived in Cambridge for over thirty years, he and Christine moved to Stoneham and resided here for twenty plus years. Bill will be remembered for his charming personality and sense of humor. He enjoyed trying his luck at Foxwoods and following the sports world on TV. He and Christine were often seen walking throughout the Town and they were known in their complex as “The Walkers”.
In addition to his wife; he is survived by his children Bill Peterson Jr. and his wife Julie of Northborough and Linda August and her husband Richard of Pembroke, NH. He also leaves his grandchildren, Flynn, Charlotte and Liam Peterson; Ricky, Brandon and Kasey August.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, November 5th from 2-4 P.M. inclluding a prayer service at 3:30 P.M. at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., FL 1, Framingham, MA 01701, or Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, FL 6, Brookline, MA 02445-9924.
