Kim Hillary Allen-Porter, a longtime resident of Gloucester passed away of cancer on March 15, 2016. She was the cherished wife of Manford J. Porter.
Born in Harrington, Maine; she was the daughter of the late Harold and Eleanor (Perry) Allen.
In her youth, Kim lived in several New England towns, as her father would move the family to localities where he worked in school administration.
Kim was a free spirit and found joy all around her; she loved horseback riding and anything to do with horses; one of her favorite places to visit was the Old Blacksmith Shop in Harrington, ME. She loved butterflies and the color orange, which is reflected in the decor of her home. She shared her fascination of mermaids with Michael Porter. She had style and loved to shop. She loved tending her flower gardens. She was bright, articulate and often would read a book a night. She was quick witted, wanted to be in charge, and she was loved.
In addition to her husband, she leaves four beloved children, Richard Pugliese of Haverhill, Shawn Pugliese of Derry, NH, Dennis Pugliese of Haverhill and Heather Allen of Gloucester; her devoted step-children, Sandra Porter of N. Andover, Craig Porter of Manchester-by-the Sea and Christopher Porter of Danvers and “like a son” Steve Skinner of Gloucester. She is survived by 16 grandchildren, a sister Sandra Allen and two brothers, Richard Allen and Edward Allen.
A memorial service in celebration of Kim’s life will be held in the Assembly of God Church, 211 Washington St., Gloucester on April 2, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. Those desiring may wish to honor her memory by making a donation to the American Cancer Society and will be collected at the church.
