Irene Walsh

P. Irene Walsh, 94, of Melrose, MA, passed away peacefully on September 28th, 2014, after a short stay at the Wingate of Andover in Andover, Ma. Born November 29th, 1919, in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Martha (Glover) Wilson. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 24 years, Gideon V. Walsh, who died in 1978. Mother of Cathy A. Smith and her husband Stephen F. Smith of Woburn, MA and Karyn I. McKenna and her husband Leo T. McKenna III of Palm Bay, FL. Grandmother of Stephen F. Smith Jr and his wife Jody A. (Cooper) Smith, Kevin R. Leslie Jr and his wife Cara Leslie, Sean M. Smith and his wife Stacy A. (Fields) Smith, Lisa M. (Smith) Lirette and her husband Michael Lirette, Christopher M. Leslie and Amanda J. Smith. Great Grandmother of Mikayla F. Smith, Marisa J. Smith, Alexis M. Leslie, Kyle C. Leslie and Nora-Ann Irene Lirette due in March 2015. Irene was the oldest of five children, she is survived by her sister Martha (Wilson) McKenzie of Reading, MA, the late Henry C. Wilson Jr, John J. Wilson and baby brother Buddy. Irene graduated from Somerville High School in 1937 and worked as a Statistical Typist in her younger years. Saturday was her favorite day as she spent it with her family, she loved bingo and her trips to Twin Rivers.

Funeral service will be held at St. James United Methodist Church, 50 Central St., Stoneham, on Friday at 11 AM. Visitation hours are Thursday, 4-8PM at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham.
